WHO Releases Guideline on Haemoglobin Cutoffs to Define Anaemia

This Spring, the World Health Organization (WHO) published its guideline on haemoglobin cutoffs to define anaemia in individuals and populations. The guideline aims to provide updated, clear, and evidence-informed normative statements on the use of haemoglobin concentrations for the assessment of anaemia, as well as for assessment in the measurement of anaemia in individuals and populations. The guideline seeks to improve the diagnosis of anaemia in a way that is grounded in gender, equity, and human rights approaches, also informing the development of nutrition and health policies.
