Over the past months, the European Commission has organized a series of consultative meetings with stakeholders on key issues highlighted in the evaluation of the Directive, aimed to inform the revision process. Minutes of a Stakeholder Workshop with Blood Competent Authorities addressing the topic of ‘Regulating for Sufficiency – blood and plasma’ are now available here. The workshop focused on the lack of legislative measures to support the achievement of a sufficient and sustainable blood supply across the European Union. Additionally, a summary report of target stakeholder workshops was published in September. The results of these will feed into an external study that will be published alongside the Commission’s proposal, expected by the end of 2021.
