The 1^st Global Forum on Access to Safe Blood Products for Patients in Need of Regular Transfusion, organised by the Thalassemia International Federation (TIF)  took place on 5 November 2021. The aim of the Global Forum is to address gaps outside and within Europe with regards to blood adequacy, and safety. Following this first edition, the Global Forum will meet annually, with the overall objective to ensure access and adequacy of blood supplies for transfusion dependent hemoglobinopathy patients.
