On the 24^th February, MEP Manuel Pizarro, a long-standing supporter of the Blood and Beyond Initiative, tabled a question to the Council of the European Union on the topic of blood sustainability in the EU. The question addresses the topics of patient blood management and lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic, and how these will be included into the Revision of the Blood Directive. Mr. Pizarro highlights the ever-lasting challenges in blood resources sustainability, which have been worsened by the pandemic. The answer of the Council will be available in the next weeks.
