ERN-EuroBloodNet Advances Work on Sickle Cell Disease
In recent months, the ERN-EuroBloodNet has been involved in work related to sickle cell disease (SCD). On 19 June, the Educational and Patients Program Manager of the ERN-EuroBloodNet, Mariangela Pellegrini, participated in the inaugural International Conference on Sickle Cell Disease in Lusophone Countries. The event focused on the Lancet Haematology Commission’s 12 recommendations on SCD.
Also in June, the ERN-EuroBloodNet released a new publication, “Limited access to transcranial doppler screening and stroke prevention for children with sickle cell disease in Europe: Results of a multinational EuroBloodNet survey”. In addition, the ERN-EuroBloodNet’s second training programme on AI for haematology, offered with GenoMed4All and conceived by the latter’s Educational Scientific/Technical Committee, started on 18 September, with a focus on three rare blood conditions: sickle cell disease, myelodysplastic syndromes, and multiple myeloma.
