A new briefing, “Towards better ‘blood health’ in Europe”, aims to help EU policymakers to improve the prevention, diagnosis and management of anaemia.
The document shows how anaemia is a major public health and patient safety challenge for patients, healthcare systems and society.
It urges better ‘blood health’. Often, blood health is under-recognised by policymakers.
The publication urges the adoption of patient-centric approaches to anaemia care. More Patient Blood Management (PBM) implementation in European countries can improve patient outcomes and population-level blood health while reducing healthcare system costs.
This briefing will be complemented by another publication providing policy solutions to improve blood health and drive PBM implementation.
