The Blood and Beyond “Reconnect Workshop” took place on the 17th of May 2022 in Brussels. The meeting built on the work achieved by the initiative since the March 2020 launch webinar, and had for objective to (re)connect experts working in the field. The event provided an opportunity to discuss latest initiatives and developments in the area of blood management and transfusion, and how to address remaining gaps in order to drive progress. Participants came up with concrete recommendations on how to support patient-centric anaemia care in Europe via the effective implementation of patient blood management as well as optimal blood use, including though improved data collection efforts at EU level.

A Blood and Beyond Joint Declaration was also presented at the workshop and published today. It is open for endorsement here.
